3 Reasons I Love the Tamron 35-150mm for Wedding Filmmaking
Today I want to talk about three reasons I love the tamron 35-150 for wedding filmmaking and why I think you should love this lens too!
🚨Our Favorite Gear For Wedding Filmmakers | bit.ly/WFSKit 🚨
Check out the lens here! amzn.to/3y4LrW2
The tamron 35-150 f/2-2.8 is an incredible all around lens that offers you a great focal range and a fast aperture on top of other benefits making it one of the best lenses for wedding filmmakers.
We did a full review of the Tamron 35-150 when it was released but for this video I had the chance to shoot almost an entire wedding day with just this lens. Going into this day without a second videographer or an assistnant I knew I'd have to be a bit quicker on my feet when it came to filming this wedding, and the tamron 35-150 for sony fit the bill perfectly. It allowed me to get wide shots, close shots, and everything in between.
Even better, the tamron 35-150 is now available for the nikon z mount, so check it out at the link above, and let us know if you have any questions about this incredible lens!

    Great comparison of zoom vs. prime lenses for wedding filmmaking. I’ve favored primes for image quality, but this video highlights the versatility of zoom lenses. The quick adaptability is invaluable. Has anyone tried both on a gimbal? I’m interested in the stabilization differences.

    What a stunning wedding. The attention to detail is remarkable, and the filmmakers captured the event perfectly. The 80s house party looked like a blast, and the drone footage is breathtaking. This video is pure inspiration for anyone planning a destination wedding.

    Great breakdown of the Tamron 35-150mm. As a wedding filmmaker, versatility is key. This lens seems to hit the sweet spot between focal length and aperture. The price point is also a huge plus. Has anyone compared this lens to the "competitor lens" in terms of low-light performance and image stabilization? Would love to hear your thoughts.

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool 7 днів тому

      What would you say is the competitor lens?

    • @damon-burton
      @damon-burton 7 днів тому

      @@WeddingFilmSchool I would say Sony FE 24-105mm or Sigma 35mm f/1.2

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool 3 дні тому

      Those aren't really competition, the first is f/4 with significantly less reach and the second is a 35mm. 35 is a great focal distance for plenty of things but the whole point of the tamron is the ability to remain on this same lens for so many different shots I'd say.

      @@WeddingFilmSchool Tamron’s versatility across different focal lengths is what sets it apart. I appreciate your insight on how it compares to those lenses.

    How much are you charging for these weddings? The look is too digital and clean, with little in the way of shallow DOF. I would be disappointed in these results if I were the couple.

      All the picture in picture is raw straight out of camera, probably some bts shots mixed in. We have each been running successful wedding filmmaking businesses for over 15 years, no complaints yet! Also you can check the finished film in the description

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool Місяць тому

      @Easyfilm84 it’s raw out of camera. I’m a little surprised you would judge a shooter based on footage straight out of cam though…

    • @Easyfilm84
      @Easyfilm84 Місяць тому

      @@WeddingFilmSchool none of my critiques have anything to do with raw footage though. I’m talking about the clinical looking digital feel that could be softened with a 1/8th promist filter, and the general lack of depth of field. Also the autofocus looks like it’s hunting in a few shots. Not bad work by any means though. Overall good stuff!

      Hey also I’m your video 2 years ago you said in the comment section something about only shooting with a 14mm lense? But then this video you were saying how great it is for this as versatile lense…. Can you expound or were you just mess in around in the comment section

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool Місяць тому

      @josiahaviles3319 it may have been a different person from the channel, because we have three different filmmakers who are part of the wedding filmmaking team here at WFS. We def do not only use a 14mm, but we often use an 18mm. Bobby also absolutely uses this Tamron at every wedding. We don’t because we don’t shoot Sony. Wish this lens was L mount! - Jay

      Bobby here! Currently I they don't have this lens in a mount for canon. You could probably adapt it but that can introduce some issues. Curious about the comment on the 14mm thing. Was it me in the video (same guy as in this video?) if so do you have a timestamp?

      I wish we could answer but Kraig has long sense left the channel. It also may be helpful to know that most modern projectors will work for this. I’d say a minimum of 5000 lumens for use indoors during the day. Probably too pricey to get something that would project outside in full sun and also probably not necessary.

    I always wondered when the cloud storage companies would trap people who have lots of data uploaded. All they need to do is change policies one day when new CTO{?) arrives and discovers how much money there is to be made by screwing people over. I'm here as someone looking into offsite storage for a few terrabytes a year but I didn't want to go down an expensive cul -de-saq. I'm just going to buy reasonably safe SSD exterals and dig a hole outside with a constant temperature and keep it in a weatherproof container. Like a root cellar. If I get businessy with my photos i'll do the same thing but with a NAS in my root cellar and use cloud for when I need quick, temporary and easy. I think that it's very shady what they did to you. I remember when Dropbox was new. I think it was free, if I remember correctly. I thought, this is so cool and nice of them and then I realized they can just play nice for a while until they get lots of users. Like a freeware style software just changing their minds later when the time is right. Oh we have a 100 million users now, let's monetize the shit out of it.

That is while folding, you jam you hand skin into the lock and it hurts. As of today, June 15th, 2024, this model is discontinued. The newer models look better. I will try them later.

    Great video man. I've been shooting weddings for years and I always ask the clients to make sure that the DJ has a line out from his soundboard for speeches etc. I have almost never had a good experience plugging into speakers. The feed into the recorder isn't clean and is often distorted/noisy/hot. A sound buddy of mine told me that the signal is looping through not only the board but the actual speaker and it's never a good idea to use it for a clean feed. Just curious if you ever run into this problem.

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool 2 місяці тому

      While I've totally had some messed up feeds I would say it's rare. I would say my go to audio used in over 90% of my films the last 18 years is a feed from the DJ is some way (speaker, sound board, mic receiver, etc). Makes me think it's something on your end.Are you using a recorder that can handle line levels? They are different than mic levels and require the correct recorder or to use an attenuator
